Joke Feedback Session
July 19 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Eastern

Got five minutes of material? Bring it in. This workshop is designed for comedians who want to strengthen existing jokes, try out new ideas, and get constructive feedback in a supportive group setting. Whether you’re building toward a performance or just want help figuring out what’s working, this is a space to refine your material, sharpen your voice, and grow as a comic. Please come prepared with at least five minutes of original comedic material to workshop.
*ASAP Content Guidelines are PG-13: no political, racist, sexist, or homophobic material, and nothing that demeans or targets people. Cursing and edgy humor are allowed in small doses if the joke is genuinely strong — but our goal through comedy is to bring people together, not shut anyone out.
About the Instructors
Dave McOwen is a DC-based professional museum nerd and amateur science/scifi geek. He is also a retired combat veteran who has the curious distinction of having served in the US Navy, the MD Army National Guard, and Air Force. Dave is a graduate of ASAP’s Comedy Bootcamp and is now an instructor. He also teaches classes for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Clay Beyersdorfer is a St. Louis-based standup comedian and writer whose work has taken him from clubs like the Comedy Store and Laugh Factory to national festivals, including Flyover, Loons on the Lake, and RISE Comedy Festival. He was a finalist for both STL’s Funniest and Loons on the Lake 2026 and has opened for headliners like Adam Cayton-Holland, Yakov Smirnoff, and Kym Whitley.
Off stage, Clay was recently accepted into the Writers Guild Foundation’s Veterans Writing Project—one of the most competitive writing programs in the country—where he continues to develop his voice as a screenwriter.
