Handbuilt Ceramic Mugs & Bowls
July 17 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Central
Create handmade pottery—no wheel required.
Using forms and sculpting tools, you’ll learn the basics of hand-building, connection methods, and shaping clay by hand to create bowls, cups, or nearly anything else you can imagine. Whether you make something functional or follow your creativity in a new direction, you’ll leave with new skills and one-of-a-kind pieces. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup approximately 2–3 weeks after class.
This workshop is produced in partnership with Breva Creative.
Note: Breva Creative requires a signed liability waiver to participate. Waivers will be provided before the workshop begins.
About the Instructors
Brad Schaefer is an artist based in San Antonio. Originally from Florida, Brad earned a Master’s in Architecture in Chicago, which laid the foundation for a deep appreciation of design and craftsmanship. After many years working in the architecture field in San Antonio, Brad expanded his passion for creative expression by opening Breva Creative Makerspace with his partner Eva. Breva Creative Makerspace is a thriving community hub dedicated to art and innovation, with a full woodshop, ceramic studio, printmaking studio, and digital fabrication lab. Brad teaches many art classes in the makerspace and uses his downtime to create art and expand his skills.
As a child, Eva Shaefer loved drawing figures and fashion designs and filled her elective schedule with as many art classes as possible. She later majored in Architecture, which she viewed as art on a larger, more constructive scale. While her current passion is ceramics, particularly mid- to large-scale pieces, she is continually exploring new mediums and techniques. Although she finds great satisfaction in the finished piece, it is the creative process itself that inspires her most.
