Stitch, Relax, Create. In this fun, low-pressure workshop, you’ll learn simple embroidery stitches while creating a design that’s uniquely yours. No experience needed, just show up ready to slow down, try something new, and enjoy the process.

You’ll learn foundational stitches like running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, split stitch, French knots, chain stitch, and lazy daisy — everything you need to get started and keep going at home. All materials are included, and while you may not finish your piece in class, you’ll leave with the skills (and supplies) to complete it at your own pace.

About the Instructors

Madison Trimble started at Abby’s Attic as a students and progressed to an instructor! She has a degree in Forensic Science from St. Edward’s College in Austin and is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Forensic Science. She is interested in sewing for Cosplay and historical garment reproductions. In her free time she enjoys LARPing and playing board games with friends.

Lisa Tobias has been teaching quilting classes, kids classes, and Sewing 101 for Abby’s Attic since October 2020. She is also a high school science teacher at Texas Military Institute, but has been teaching science since 2000. Mrs. Tobias was named Teacher of the Year in 2017-2018 while she worked at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic School. In her free time she loves to sew quilts and clothing, and lets her pets hang out at her feet while she sits at her sewing machine.

DeeDee Wendtland is an avid crafter who enjoys teaching children and adults. Her passion is knitting garments but she also loves to sew clothing.

Jennifer Nicolella has been sewing for over 25 years. She trained as a chemist and a high school math teacher, but her absolute passion is sewing. Jen loves to combine her teaching experience with her love of all things sewing and crafting, plus throw in some mad nerd skills when she can. Jen’s favorite part of teaching people how to sew is seeing the satisfaction and smiles on their faces when they declare, “I did this!” In her free time (hah!) she enjoys camping, bike riding and, of course, sewing.
