Class

This seven-week class will meet on Mondays: March 23, 30, April 13, 20, 27, May 4, and 11 (skipping April 6).

Playwriting allows writers to tell stories using a unique medium–live performance. This class reviews the fundamentals of narrative structure, with a focus on the creation of a ten-minute play. The principles we learn can be applied to full-length works as well. Just click your ruby heels together and say: “there’s no place like a theater”.

The first session covers an overview of the key elements of narrative structure. In the following sessions, participants will present outlines, discuss their work in a collaborative and supportive space, writing and rewriting until the end of the class, when each student playwright will have completed their own ten-minute play.

To make the most out of this class, participants should continue working on their plays between each session, using our time together for discussion and feedback.
