This five-week class will meet on Sundays: October 20, 27, November 3, 10, and 17. Each session is 3 hours.
In this class learn the basics of fighting with swords for live theatre, how to keep your partners safe, and tell stories with your physicality. The end of the course will have actors perform a short choreographed fight from a famous play.
About the Instructor
Scott Russell is an AEA actor, SDC Fight Director, and a Full Instructor with Dueling Arts International; he currently teaches theatre at Franklin College. He has been recognized as an Advanced Actor Combatant with DAI and the Society of American Fight Directors, and an Intermediate Actor Combatant with Fight Directors Canada, the Society of Australian Fight Directors, Inc., the Nordic Stage Fight Society, and the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. He currently serves as the Resident Fight Director at the Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis.
Scott received his MFA in Theatre from the University of Arkansas, and is a graduate of The Conservatory at Act One Studios – Chicago. He holds an undergraduate degree in Biology from Belmont University and spent many years as a cancer biologist.
