This six-week class will meet on Sundays, September 7, 14, 21, 28, October 5, and 12. Each session is 3 hours.
Learn the basics of standup comedy in this six-week class taught by professional comics. The class ends with a graduation show where you’ll deliver a five-minute comedy set to a public audience. Our 600+ graduates have gone on to perform on some of the world’s biggest stages, including Warner Theater, Gotham Comedy Club, and The White House.
Participants will have weekly writing “homework” in between class sessions to prepare a 5-minute set for their graduation show at Mic Drop Comedy on October 21st.
About the instructors
Originally from the East Coast, comedian Geoff Grooms now calls San Diego home. As a paid regular at Mic Drop Comedy, Geoff can be found flexing his muscles on stage across the west coast. When Geoff’s not entertaining audiences with tales about his unique encounters, and experiences growing up as a military brat; he’s in the gym pumping iron or exploring life as a Navy veteran. Geoff was in the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Festival and was the winner of the 2023 Best Medicine Brigade’s Operation HEAL*arious comedy competition as seen on VetTv. He has opened for comics such as Troy Bond, Alignon Mitra, Willie Macc, Zach Noe Towers, Big Irish Jay Hollingsworth, Drew Dunn, Kalea McNeill, Rena Calm, Joe Hill, Ty Barnett, Keon Polee and more.
Pamela Crane, MS Yoga Therapy, C-IAYT, is a certified yoga therapist, performer, and Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) alumna who empowers individuals to overcome stage fright and cultivate confidence through mindfulness and stage skills. A military spouse with a background as a film and commercial actress, broadcast journalist, and award-winning theatre performer, Pamela blends her expertise in yoga therapy and the performing arts to help actors, speakers, and comedians excel on stage. She has presented nationally and internationally on stress management, mindfulness, and integrative health, equipping participants to shine with presence and poise.
