Class

Uncover the truth behind the text—and behind yourself.

This is a six-week week class and will meet on Fridays, April 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8, and 15 with a graduation performance on May 22.

Explore character motivation through a powerful framework rooted in personal experience and objective-driven performance. Led by SAG-AFTRA actor David Mac, participants will learn how to identify what a character wants, choose strong actions to pursue it, and ground their choices in real-life objectives—not played emotions.

Using the Motivational Force formula, you’ll reflect on your own moments of courage, conflict, and clarity to bring raw honesty to your scene work. With small-group collaboration, live coaching, and a final graduation showcase on May 22nd, this class will leave you more connected, confident, and grounded in your artistic voice.

About the Instructor

David Mac is a SAG-AFTRA actor with over six years of conservatory training and a dynamic presence on both stage and screen. A company member of Towne Street Theatre, David’s performances have been described as “Orson Welles meets Mark Ruffalo”—a commanding presence grounded in warmth, wit, and complexity. His work spans classic and contemporary roles, with credits including The Foreigner, Dial ‘M’ for Murder, and Legally Blonde: The Musical. Frequently cast as doctors, professors, soldiers, and fathers, he brings emotional clarity and physical precision shaped by training in Stanislavski, Shakespeare, improvisation, and stage combat. As an instructor, David guides actors to unlock honest performance through personal truth, clear objectives, and action-driven choices. Learn more at https://linktr.ee/dmacofalltrades.
