This six-week class will meet on Wednesdays: September 18, 25, October 2, 9, 16, and 23. Each session is 2 hours.

Scene Study is an engaging and intensive class designed to deepen actors understanding of character development, emotional truth, and the art of storytelling through performance.

Throughout this course, students will delve into a variety of scenes contemporary plays to films and television scripts. Through rigorous analysis and exploration, participants will uncover the layers of character motivation, relationships, and conflicts embedded within each scene. Students will refine their acting techniques, enhance their ability to connect authentically with their characters, and hone their skills in interpreting scripts.

Whether you are a seasoned actor looking to sharpen your craft or a newcomer eager to explore the world of acting, this class offers a supportive and collaborative environment for artistic growth and discovery.

About the Instructors

Kristie Schuh is an actor, writer, educator and intimacy coordinator from Austin, Texas. She recently received her MFA in Acting from Purdue University where she took specialized classes on character development and solo performance. Her one woman show was recently accepted and performed at the Austin Fringe Festival. She also has a strong background in acting for the camera, most recently appearing in a commercial for a laundry mat chain in Indianapolis.

Tess King is a passionate individual with a diverse background in music, education, and arts leadership! Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Tess developed a love for music early, which led her to pursue a Bachelor of Music Education from Susquehanna University in 2005. Tess furthered her education by earning a Master of Arts in Arts Administration at Winthrop University in 2024 and has been with Hampton Arts Education since November 2023. Tess’s combined expertise in music education and arts administration allows her to bring a unique perspective to her roles, seamlessly blending her creative talents with strategic leadership.

In addition to her professional achievements, Tess is a military spouse, a devoted doggy mom, and a seasoned performer. She loves the collaboration between Hampton Arts Education and ASAP and looks forward to growing the partnership with her time at Hampton Arts!
