Stories in Action

Stories in Action is a 1-hour energetic and interactive experience for children ages 3-6 (a parent/guardian must be present for the duration of the class).
Using the actor’s tools of body, voice, and imagination, Stories in Action brings a beloved children’s book to life through the use of creative drama, songs, and props. Teaching artists will guide the young participants through dramatic play and creative problem solving in concert with the selected storybook.
Parents, please fill out the sign up form with your information. Accepted applicants will be contacted via the email address provided on the form to provide additional information regarding the participating child(ren).

Medha Marsten is the Director of Education at Virginia Stage Company. She has been a theatre artist and educator for almost fifteen years. Formerly based out of Washington D.C., she has previously worked at Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Folger Shakespeare Library, and Adventure Theatre. She has a M.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Maryland. She has worked with students of every age from birth to senior citizens. She cares deeply about bringing theatre arts to every age group because of theatre’s ability to help us understand ourselves and each other.
Meghan Ewing is a Chesapeake-based teaching artist with a background in vocal music and performance. She is a graduate of The Governor’s School For The Arts for vocal music where she studied opera. She also graduated from Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. In 2018, Meghan performed with The Virginia Opera in their Production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which toured around Virginia. After she graduated, Meghan worked in childcare, focusing on students ages 2 – 4. During her time in education, she facilitated music performances and art shows to showcase her students’ talents. Meghan believes that giving kids a healthy way to express themselves is an important part of their development.
