This three-day workshop meets on April 29, 30, and May 1 from 6:30-8:00 PM. This workshop culminates in a performance on Friday, May 2 at Constitution Hall. Call time is 3 PM, Dress Rehearsal is 4-6 PM, Performance is 7-9 PM.
Join Exit12 Dance Company for a dynamic movement workshop series leading to a live performance at the Exit12 Gala Performance at Constitution Hall on Friday, May 2nd! Led by Artistic Director Roman Baca and Exit12 teaching artists, these workshops blend movement, writing, and theater to help you craft a powerful narrative through dance. Explore themes of identity, resilience, and life transitions through solo, partner, and group movement exercises. Each session starts with a light warm-up to get you moving and ready to create.
No dance experience? No problem! All you need is a willingness to explore and express. Modifications will be offered so everyone can participate fully. Come move, create, and share your story in a whole new way!
About the Instructors
Román Baca is the Artistic Director of Exit12 Dance Company, 2024 scholar with the George W. Bush Presidential Institute’s Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program, and a Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Baca co-founded Exit12 Dance Company, which tells war stories, choreographically, to increase cross-cultural understanding and heal divisions. He has choreographed and championed dance works that explore the military veteran experience and the impact of war on civilians and families.
Adrienne de la Fuente is the Executive Director of Exit12 Dance Company. The daughter of a former Army Captain, Adrienne has developed a greater understanding of the military’s influence on her own family and the community where she was raised through her work with Exit12. Adrienne has performed with SpectorDance Company, the JUNTOS Dance Collective, Brooklyn Ballet, and with several NYC-based choreographers as a freelance dancer.
