Class

This seven-week class is on Wednesdays: April 9, 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14, and 21. Each session is 2 hours. The last class includes a performance for friends and family.

In this dynamic class, come together to create original theater pieces from scratch! Through fun, collaborative exercises, artists will explore their own stories and ideas, turning them into unique performances.

This class is all about expression, connection, and building confidence, as each artist contributes to the creation of the play. Together, we’ll work through movement, voice, and storytelling techniques to craft a show that reflects the experiences and creativity of everyone involved. This class is the perfect space to have fun, connect with others, and express yourself through the power of theater.

About the Instructor

Alissa Klusky is a dramaturg, director, and experienced devising artist based in the DC-area. Her work centers around exploring the “why” of creating theater with and for local communities. With an emphasis on joyous discovery, her devising practice has taken her across the US and to India, collaborating with artists from a wide range of artistic backgrounds. She currently facilitates the Theatre Washington Mentorship Program, connecting theater artists of all ages and stages with mentors in the DC area. Outside of theater, she enjoys hanging out with her dog Nugget, reading fantasy and sci-fi books, and a great jam session.

This class is produced in partnership with the Arena Stage.
