For those who want to write a novel, screenplay, short story—anything at all, the first step is to start writing. This lively and inspiring workshop will show you how to get started. Within the friendly setting of like-experienced writers, you’ll practice the craft of writing through group exercises and spontaneous discussions. You’ll not only learn how to get started but how to keep going, what stuck looks like and how to get unstuck, how to tell when the critic, censor, or editor is present and what to do about it, and how discover what you really want to write about. Join in for a fast and friendly, enjoyable couple hours of writing. Who knows what can happen?

About the Instructor

Judy Reeves is an award-winning writer and teacher who has published four books on the craft including A Writer’s Book of Days and Wild Women, Wild Voices, and a memoir, When Your Heart Says Go. She previously taught at UCSD Extension and has led community-based writing practice groups for thirty years. She is on the faculty of the Southern California Writers’ Conference, serves on the council for the International Association for Journal Writing, teaches at writing conferences internationally, and at San Diego Writers, Ink, a nonprofit literary center she co-founded.
