Program Type

Workshop

Ekphrasis is a device whereby poems are inspired by Visual Art: paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc. Poems can be descriptive or take more figurative forms. Join Kari Martindale, who has participated in ekphrastic events across Maryland, in finding inspiration from visual works of art and pairing it with your words. The first half of the workshop will be hands-on learning and practicing in the classroom, followed by walking around the gallery to find inspiration and create a poem based on exhibit art. This class is for all levels of experience. Whether you’ve never written a poem or you’re a seasoned published poem looking for fresh inspiration, you’re welcome!
