Learn an overview of foundational acting techniques like character development and movement in a fun, supportive environment. No experience needed; all skill levels welcome!
This introductory acting class offers a low-pressure space to explore the fundamentals of acting, with no prior experience required. Through character development, movement, improvisation, and scene exploration, students will learn foundational acting skills while strengthening confidence, focus, and emotional expression. This is a supportive environment where students can safely take creative risks and sharpen their skills. About the Instructor
Leila Stephanie is a multifaceted educator, director, performer, community connector and artistic leader. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Norfolk State University, where she was a member of the NSU Players and NSU Theatre Company, and in 2017, Leila obtained her Master’s Degree in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art & Design. As a proud Newport News native, she attributes her love for the arts to her family and community. With this foundation in mind, Leila curates bold performances that amplify underrepresented voices. As an adjunct professor and teaching artist, Leila’s pedagogy affirms her beliefs in the transformative power of live performance and the strength in community connections.
