SUMMARY:Songwriting 101: Finding Your Voice
DESCRIPTION:This six-week class meets on Mondays\, April 13\, 20\, 27\, May 4\, 11\, and 18 from 6-8:30 PM\, with a graduation showcase on Saturday\, May 23 from 6-8:30 PM. \n\n\n\nExplore the heart of songwriting in a supportive\, collaborative space. Led by award-winning performer and teaching artist Tamara Rodriguez\, this class takes you from your first idea to a complete original song\, even if you’ve never written or performed before. \n\n\n\nEach session blends musical warm-ups\, hands-on lyric and rhythm exercises\, and small-group collaboration. You’ll learn the core elements of songwriting — melody\, groove\, harmony\, and structure — and discover how your own experiences can shape authentic\, powerful music. \n\n\n\nWe’ll use movement\, rhythm games\, guided writing prompts\, and listening exercises to build skills in a playful\, accessible way. You’ll also practice performance techniques like vocal dynamics\, phrasing\, and stage presence\, and get a beginner-friendly introduction to basic recording. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the course\, every participant will have created at least one original song (solo or collaborative) and will have the chance to share it at our Graduation Showcase on May 23\, a celebratory event for family and friends. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re brand new to songwriting or looking to reconnect with creativity\, this class offers the structure\, encouragement\, and community to help your voice come alive through music. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the instructor \n\n\n\nTamara Rodriguez is a professional vocalist\, recording artist\, songwriter\, and educator with over 15 years of experience across the music\, theater\, television\, and commercial industries. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music\, Tamara’s teaching philosophy is grounded in honoring each student’s unique voice and musical path. She blends technical training with deep emotional exploration to help artists gently peel back layers and reveal their truest selves through music. Learn more here.

SUMMARY:Traditional Stories: Folk Tales\, Myths\, and Legends
DESCRIPTION:You’ve seen the movies\, read the storybooks\, and maybe even wanted to be the princess or the one saving her — but that’s not all there is to traditional stories. The folktales\, fairy tales\, myths\, and legends that have been passed down from one generation to another in cultures all over the world. There are reasons these stories have often persisted for hundreds and even thousands of years: they have things to say to us in ways we can hear them. And\, sometimes\, they even show us ourselves. \n\n\n\nJoin Sarah Brady for this webinar where we’ll hear a story; explore types of traditional tales and where to find them; and delve into ways we can craft\, play with\, and present these enduring stories\, even using them to help us communicate and build connection\, from nap time to the board room. \n\n\n\nThis 90-minute webinar will feature one hour of instruction followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor \n\n\n\nSarah Brady is a storyteller\, teaching artist\, and writer whose backgrounds in theatre and education influence her storytelling. She taught communication and theatre at multiple universities before making her way toward solo performance and then into the storytelling world. She has told stories in the US and UK\, where she lived for three years soaking in stories as her roots grew deep in British soil. Sarah’s telling spans genres of historical\, traditional\, literary\, and personal tales\, while her awards include being chosen the Sunburst Performing Artist of the Year from Arts for Learning Virginia and selected as best liar of the Cambridge Storytellers Liars Contest. Passionate about stories that help us see each other and the world around us\, she specializes in finding the heart of each story she tells. Read more here.
