SUMMARY:Introduction to Watercolor Painting
DESCRIPTION:In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll learn how to work with watercolor instead of fearing it (watercolors have an unpredictable reputation). We’ll break down the most essential techniques— controlling water and pigment\, blending color\, and mastering edges — so your paintings are vibrant and come to life! \n\n\n\nYou’ll learn how small adjustments in water\, brushwork\, and materials can dramatically improve your results\, building control and confidence right away. \n\n\n\nWatercolor is one of the most versatile and accessible mediums — perfect for travel\, quick studies\, or fully developed paintings. Whether your hope is to achieve flowing expressive washes\, or realistic images\, this class will give you the tools to begin. \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary\, just come ready to experiment\, loosen up\, and enjoy the process. All materials will be provided! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor \n\n\n\nMarjorie Lindsay is a contemporary landscape painter based in San Antonio\, Texas. She holds a BFA and MFA in Drawing and Painting and has painted extensively across the United States and Italy\, creating work rooted in slow observation and the experience of place. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and are included in collections such as Salt Lake County Art in Public Places and Delta Airlines’ Crown Room Collection. Learn more here.

SUMMARY:Traditional Stories: Folk Tales\, Myths\, and Legends
DESCRIPTION:You’ve seen the movies\, read the storybooks\, and maybe even wanted to be the princess or the one saving her — but that’s not all there is to traditional stories. The folktales\, fairy tales\, myths\, and legends that have been passed down from one generation to another in cultures all over the world. There are reasons these stories have often persisted for hundreds and even thousands of years: they have things to say to us in ways we can hear them. And\, sometimes\, they even show us ourselves. \n\n\n\nJoin Sarah Brady for this webinar where we’ll hear a story; explore types of traditional tales and where to find them; and delve into ways we can craft\, play with\, and present these enduring stories\, even using them to help us communicate and build connection\, from nap time to the board room. \n\n\n\nThis 90-minute webinar will feature one hour of instruction followed by an optional 30-minute Q&A. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor \n\n\n\nSarah Brady is a storyteller\, teaching artist\, and writer whose backgrounds in theatre and education influence her storytelling. She taught communication and theatre at multiple universities before making her way toward solo performance and then into the storytelling world. She has told stories in the US and UK\, where she lived for three years soaking in stories as her roots grew deep in British soil. Sarah’s telling spans genres of historical\, traditional\, literary\, and personal tales\, while her awards include being chosen the Sunburst Performing Artist of the Year from Arts for Learning Virginia and selected as best liar of the Cambridge Storytellers Liars Contest. Passionate about stories that help us see each other and the world around us\, she specializes in finding the heart of each story she tells. Read more here.
