Open Workshop

Explore the fundamentals of dramatic storytelling with the focus of writing a short play. You’ll watch a short play performance, break down the essential building blocks of narrative structure, and learn six practical tools playwrights use to bring a story to life on stage. We’ll also explore five surprising places playwrights find their ideas—some closer than you think.

And then, we write.

You’ll receive a guided prompts and be invited to write alongside the instructor in real time, discovering what happens when you stop overthinking and start putting words on the page.

Whether you’re brand new or returning to the craft, you’ll leave with a clearer sense of structure, a handful of tools, and a fresh start. Go ahead—click your magic ruby heels together. There’s no place like the theater.
