Introduction to Acting

This is a six-week week class and will meet on Mondays, September 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, and 26.
ntroduction to Acting – Welcome to the world of acting! In this class, you’ll explore the fundamentals of the craft and discover what it means to create authentic, believable characters. We’ll introduce the principles of Stanislavski-based acting, including objectives, actions, and tactics, while learning how to make strong, specific choices as an actor.
Through scenes and monologues, you’ll learn that acting is the reality of doing—responding truthfully, connecting with your scene partner, and fully committing to the moment.
We’ll also explore the business side of being an actor, giving you practical tools to begin navigating the industry. Topics will include headshots, resumes, auditions, agents, and professional expectations.
Whether you’re new to acting or looking to strengthen your foundation, this class will help you build confidence, develop your skills, and take your first steps toward becoming a well-rounded actor.
About the Instructor
Kristie Schuh is an actor, writer, educator and intimacy coordinator from Austin, Texas. She recently received her MFA in Acting from Purdue University where she took specialized classes on character development and solo performance. Her one woman show was recently accepted and performed at the Austin Fringe Festival. She also has a strong background in acting for the camera, most recently appearing in a commercial for a laundry mat chain in Indianapolis.
